Beats me, but I sure am loving today’s XKCD strip, called “A Bunch of Rocks.” That’s probably the best thing that could ever hit the President. Nah, I’m just kidding. Updates, updates, decisions!

Woohoo! Free time = update time. You can thank me later, my 32 undying RSS subscribers. For now, let me have this stage that I call a personal blog, and tell you what’s been going on with my life.

New house, new home

Today is November 16th, and it’s a Sunday. Funny combination. Anyway, this will have to be a quick post for I still have plenty of things to do and I’m just taking a break. So what’s been happening? I just moved in to Espana Tower last week, and boy did I quickly regret it! Actually, I don’t really regret it, it’s just that it’s my very first time to live on my own. Well, I’ve been basically supporting myself since I was maybe 14 years old, but this time is the only time that I’m truly living with myself and no one else. Pretty exciting, and scary at night, I’ll tell you that. Hopefully, I’ll get to post pics of the view from my unit some time soon. It’s not the greatest, but works for me.

Going to Mobile Asia Congress 2008

As for tomorrow, well, I’m headed to Macau for Mobile Asia Congress 2008. I’m hearing it’ll be a cricket-fest, with absolutely none of the big players in the mobile industry appearing, but f- it, me and my Ed are going, if only for the Venetian. But seriously, I’m looking forward to it as a learning experience and as preparation for my future trip to Consumer Electronics Show 2009 in January and Mobile World Congress 2009 in February (fingers crossed!).

Eating words with a Casio digicam

And you know, I always said I’d never buy a digital camera, especially when I found out that 5-megapixel cameraphone picture quality was good, but several weeks ago I ate my words and had to settle for a Casio Exilim EX-V7 for my trip to China in the next few days.

Since I’m going to an expo, I figured a cam would be a necessity. And not wanting to get laughed at, I finally bought a digicam. The Casio Exilim EX-V7 is supposed to be the world’s slimmest 7x optical zoom camera featuring an internal zoom, though I don’t know if it still holds the title to this day. I liked it so much, I actually bought two. One is for my trip tomorrow and the other, a gift to my girl.

Blogging, about tech, phones, etc.

As with my thoughts regarding digicams, I also thought I’d never migrate Electronic Pulp from Blogger to WordPress. Alas, that day is nigh, and I’m currently planning how to get it over with, including choosing a template, among other things. If all goes well, I might also create another web site, possibly for a business, though I’m still unsure what yet.

Now that I’ve moved in to a new place, I can also focus more on my work. Which brings me to my next topic: ruling the blogosphere! I wonder how far my stint in Unwired View will take me. My bet is as far as I’m willing to work for. But heaven only knows… and I’ll have to see for myself. I’ve learned so much from all of what I’ve been doing, on my own, that I have even more conviction now when I say that, “I’m too cool for school.”

Of course, I still try to learn whenever I can, though I can’t say I’ve managed to keep my reading habits in good shape. The fact is, self-teaching is definitely doable, and I’m cool with doing it for the rest of my life. I have experience and a few friends to help me out whenever I run into any trouble. For everything else, there’s the Internet.

Abrupt ending

I’ve a lot more to say, but this is way more than just a quick post now! I believe I’ve told you just about enough for today’s update, and rest assured there will be more to come in the future. If you’re going to Macau tomorrow night, do let me know so we can have a chat in the airport while we’re both waiting for our flights.

Matrox Imaging camera boasts Intel Atom processor, 1GB memory and uselessness

There’s a new camera in town from Matrox called the Iris GT, but I stopped reading about it after “1.6GHz Intel Atom processor.” Two words for ya: not practical, at all.

Nokia E63 to cost less and outperform E71

They say the best things in life are free. But at $254 or about 12,354 Pesos, the recently announced Nokia E63 is a bargain! It boasts much of the same (if not exactly the same) features as the metallic Nokia E71, and it looks just as stylish, too. But yet it costs way cheaper, plus the first user reviews are saying it’s even better than the original. Or as hopeless romantics would have it, “love is sweeter the second time around.” Explain that if you can.

But back to what’s important: what makes the Nokia E63 so special? Here’s the thing. Nokia is producing the Nokia E63 probably to further penetrate the mass market, in line with what they’re currently doing with the Nseries. The Nokia E63 is supposed to be a low-end version of the E71, but the funnty thing is, it looks like Nokia has actually created a better overall device in the process of making it.

For starters, here’s what the Nokia E63 is at a glance:

It won’t offer HSDPA, but 3G speeds aren’t half bad. It also has a NaviWheel, in case you find that little iPod click-wheel imitating feature interesting, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for normal people like you and me. And the best part is, it will be available for a price that’s a lot lower than the Nokia E71′s original selling price. I never thought I’d once again consider another Eseries device other than my Nokia E50, but I guess I was wrong. There’s no word yet on a proper and official release date, but it should be available soon, right when you finish saving up for it, hopefully.

Nokia N96 first impressions make it look like overgrown N81

While I’m waiting for a ~~miracle~~ chance to review the flagship Nokia N96 myself, fellow blogger Rico from Technograph has posted his first impressions of the said device. “The phone is very reminiscent of the N81 8GB,” says Rico, and I agree. In fact, I think all of Nokia’s upcoming phones, save for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, look a lot like each other. Someone would be likely to think these little devices were brothers, or something, don’t you think? And that’s a bad thing… But anyway, pray I can get my hands on this gigantic Nseries handset so we, as a people here in Electronic Pulp can examine it for ourselves and settle on a verdict. May she rest in peace!

Nokia N85 and Nokia N79 now available, prices and all

Good news for those who are anxiously waiting for the Nokia N79 and Nokia N85′s Philippine release date. I haven’t confirmed yet if it’s “Nokia official,” but I’m sure as the sun will shine tomorrow that both phones are now available here in the country.

The price of a brand new Nokia N79 in the Philippines is a measly 19,000 Pesos, while the price of a “higher-end” Nokia N85 is 23,000 Pesos. That’s right, both phones have a price difference of just 4,000 Pesos, and I’m not sure why that’s so.

If I didn’t learn anything from buying a brand new Nokia N78 when it first came out, I would jump for either phone (most likely the N85) immediately. But I’m not that kinda girl anymore, so I’ll pass–wait until the price drops to ridiculously low levels, because that’s just the way it is with these Nokia’s nowadays. It just ain’t the same…

But if it tickles your fancy, go ahead and buy them. They’re at SM City San Lazaro, displayed behind the glass windows of EDGECOM.

Before I’ve even posted pics of the new place that I call home, here are a couple of the hotel in which I’m going to stay with my Editor ~~tomorrow~~ from Monday through Wednesday. No, of course I’m not the one paying for it, but if I could I definitely would. From the looks of it, I think it’s worth the title of best 5-star hotel in China. Maybe in Asia, even.

More pics of The Venetian Macau are available here, and I have to say, they all look gorgeous! I hope Photoshop had nothing to do with all this magnificence. Now, if only I can manage to buy myself a rice cooker, hot iron, water dispenser, and print 100 business cards tomorrow, plus forget the fact that my girlfriend’s stepmom was probably the one who stole my Sony PSP and 900 Pesos, maybe I could enjoy this place!

LG KC560 leaked, looks good for a budget phone

It seems LG is on a roll in producing fancy, high-end looking handsets that actually do mid-range features. The LG KC560 is one such example, and while it still hasn’t been officially announced by LG, it sure does look like it’s completely ready for the spotlight. Don’t take my word for it, just take a look at the official photo above. In all, not much can be said about this Tri-band GSM handset; it doesn’t even support 3G. But it does feature a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, FM radio, and a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, which should be enough to please most people out there. There’s support for Bluetooth A2DP and microSD cards on board, as well as USB connectivity. There’s no mention of an official price, though, but it’s rumored to be somewhere between $300 and $350 (or 16,800 Pesos max). Wait for it to come to the Philippines by the holidays.

Oh, Apple Online Store Philippines, what took you so long?

I actually thought I wouldn’t blog until tonight (still trying to fix things here in my new “house” which I’m going to talk about in a future post), but the announcement of the Philippine Apple Online Store’s opening has got me excited! Wet, if that’s even possible!

I’ve waited for this day for several years along with many other enthusiastic folks, and I’m happy now. But I have to admit, its prices are rather steep! I’ll see how far a student discount can take me, but I’m not holding my breath for this one even though the holidays are coming (and it should be a perfect gift source). Anyway, congratulations, Philippines.

Today’s Apple Online Store opening is one small step for fanboys, and one giant leap for the local online shopping industry. Explain that if you can.
